I had a close call when my Woodcraft toe guard dragged on the ground during testing. The way it mounts on the R3 / Ninja 400, it gets a little too close to the ground and at extreme lean angles, especially while using smaller tires, it can drag on the ground and cause a crash. Because of this, I no longer offer this piece for sale, and recommend the Graves Toe Guard instead. Here’s a quick post of some pictures showing how I modified (bent) my Woodcraft guard to increase ground clearance and still provide excellent protection to keep my body parts out of the chain and sprocket.
Clamp the guard in a vise.
I used a wood block to hammer against the guard without causing too much damage with the hammer.
Bend the guard so that it angles toward the chain and increases ground clearance:
